Embrace your Greenery: A Guide to Caring for Your Indoor Plants this Winter

As the weather out there gets absolutely freezing temperatures, it's never been more important to take care of our plants indoors! Our plant babies require a little extra TLC to thrive through the chilly months. We're going to share out #MementoTopTips for keeping that much loved greenery alive during Winter.

1 - MINDFUL WATERING

The winter months often mean lower humidity levels and less sunlight, which can have an impact on your plant's water needs! Be attentive to each plant's individual needs as some may require less frequent watering, with others needing a bit more moisture! Always check the soil to see what it needs. We recommend the finger test to test if the top 2 inches are dry, if they are then the plant needs some H20!

2 - LIGHT EXPOSURE

With the shorter days and less sunlight, it's super important to place your plants in places they will grab a little light throughout the day!

Move your light-hungry plants into window sills or into a raised plant stand. Rotate your plants regularly to ensure all sides receive equal sunlight, this will encourage balanced growth throughout your plant!

3 - WATCH OUT FOR EXTREME TEMPERATURES

This is the time of year where temperatures fluctuate and they can reach baltic conditions! Avoid placing your plants near cold draughts or warm heaters, as sudden changes in temp can stress them! Try to maintain comfortable conditions for your greenery throughout the winter.

4 - KEEP FOLIAGE CLEAN (WIPE YOUR LEAVES)

Take care of your plants by wiping any dust and grime from your foliage. You can use a damp cloth to wipe down each leaf of a larger plant, place the plant in the shower for a super quick rinse or give the plant a quick sprits with a spray of water.

5 - DON'T STRESS ABOUT DROPPED LEAVES

During the winter, it is natural for a few leaves to drop on your plants as you are bringing them indoors for the summer sunlight. This just means they are adjusting to the lower levels of light indoors. Don't worry!

Below, we recommend some plants we think are perfect for having through Winter! Embrace the winter greenery and your indoor oasis will continue to be vibrant and refreshing for you on those cooler days!
