Ah, peony season — it’s the floral equivalent of Christmas for flower lovers. These big, blousy blooms are bursting into their full glory, and at Memento, we’re obsessed. Whether you're a long-time peony fanatic or new to the magic, now’s the time to soak it all in — because peony season is over just as quick as a sunny day in Northern Ireland!
The Short but Sweet Peony Season
Peonies have an infamously short season, typically blooming from late May to early July. That’s just a few precious weeks to enjoy their lush, romantic petals and heady scent. In other words, if you snooze, you lose. But the good news? We’ve got the prettiest bunches in Belfast, ready to brighten your home or make someone’s day.

Make Your Peonies Last Longer at Home
Want to get the most from your blooms? Here are our top tips to keep your peonies looking fresh and fabulous for as long as possible:
Trim the stems: Give them a fresh diagonal snip with clean scissors when you get them home – it helps them drink up all that water.
Cool vibes only: Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources (radiators, sunny windowsills, rogue candles).
Fresh water daily: Like us, peonies love clean water. Change it every day to keep bacteria at bay.
Let them breathe: Remove any leaves that sit below the water line to avoid rot.
Give them space: Peonies like to open up – literally. Don’t squash them in too tightly with other flowers if you want those big, bold blooms.
With a little TLC, your peonies can last up to a week (sometimes more if you’re lucky). And watching them go from tight buds to full-on ruffles? It’s practically therapy!
